Until Michigan Bell Telephone Co., now AT&T, erected its building at South Washington and Janes
in October 1973, the 178-foot Second National building was the tallest in Saginaw.

my Grandma worked there!
I do not remember much, but I know I was in there a few times!

Second National switched its name to Citizens Bank in May 1996,

the Lufkin Rule Company in Saginaw, Michigan

Circa 1918 illustration of the manufacturing plant of the Lufkin Rule Company in Saginaw, Michigan.
"1730 HESS STREET SAGINAW, MICHIGAN”
"Additions to the plant and offices have been added, and the address changed to 1900 Hess."

1955 "Lufkin Rule grew to 1,400 employees at the height of operation. An addition was added to the plant. "

A 17-acre site was bought in 1890 by Lufkin Rule Company for manufacturing of measuring tapes, rules and precision tools. This facility closed in 1967.

my dad for as long as I can remember has always had his trusty lufkin 12 ft rule with him when ever he was building,or working on stuff in the shed.
I always wanted him to get a new one,but he did not want one.
I bought myself a nice stanely 12 ft. tape messure in 1976 that I still have out in one of my tool boxes.

I always thought it was cool to look on some of his tools and see made in saginaw mi.
he has a combination square and a 50 ft tape chrome case.
I have A 50 ft. tape, but not the chrome case.
and I think he has a 2 ft. square from lufkin as well.

I remember going buy on hess and he would always say to us "theres the old lufkin rule "
