Yep .... the bottom has fallen out of the scrap market ... I work for a scrapyard .... and were dead .. averaging 20 customes a day ....where back in mid summer we averaged 150-180 ... it took 3-5 of us just to keep up with the 2 scales ........ it was a mad house ..we literaly at closing times were turning people away or we would be there for another couple hours dealing with customers .. Now you could shoot off a cannon in the yard and not hit anyone .... But thats how all the yards are now ...... Hopfully it will rebound soon ..... We have found some business here and there , were selling out of state to get a better price and we picked up another customer the other day were shipping too ...... so were making enough to stay afloat ...... Atleast we have only laid off 7 guys in our yard i have heard a few other have laid off between 20-50 employees... including Omisource..
