This weekend at Northern Michigan Dragway racers and fans are getting ready for the most popular event of the bracket racing season.
The annual 'Mopars Against the World' race features Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge vehicles matching up with competitive makes until no longer possible, with a score kept of the match-ups.
This often provides extra excitement as a race within the race.
A bonus this year is one extra race for the 'footbrake' class for no extra charge with the purchase of a weekend entry, three days of racing instead of the customary two day weekend.
Pit Pass prices have also been reduced for the remainder of the season to $5 daily, to help people cope with fuel costs.
Gates open Friday and Saturday at 6:00 pm for time trials, with races starting at 9:00 pm.
On Sunday time trials begin at Noon, with eliminations beginning at 2:00 pm.
In racing action this past Saturday the first 'Night Moves' event was finally held.
Up to this point if the NMD race schedule said 'Night Moves' everyone thought of thunderstorms. And there were heavy thunderstorms mid-day Saturday, but by 4:00 the threat was past and the track opened on time for a perfect evening of racing under mostly clear skies.
The first three 'Night Moves' races on the schedule were lost due to cold and rainy weather, and changes are being made to make up for those lost events.
