ok... here we go again...
98 Buick 3800 Series II, bleeding coolant internally. Checked intake gaskets, checked upper plenum, and compression test on all cylinders is a nice even 170 psi. A couple cylinders leaked down a little bit, but not more than 5 psi.
Is there a way to check for a cracked head or block without dismantling the whole engine?
Is a coolant pressure test a possibility?
I'm thinking about tearing off the front timing cover and re-sealing that, since the compression test showed OK.
OR...could the head gaskets be gone and still have a good compression test?
I need a hand...im about at wits end here.

Not sure....
Im thinking a cracked head. It bubbles out from underneath the valve spring.
What's your thoughts...
See the video I made tonight. Call me or reply back what you think I should do.

Want to know what sucks?
Power Pro Reman Engine only lasted 60K miles - $2200 still paying on it and its in the scrap yard.
This engine cost around $2500 to build and Im no further ahead than when I started, and it's not even my fault.
Thanks to a shoddy local machine shop that didn't pressure test or mag the heads before machining them.
I have zero money, and about 5K wrapped up on my credit card for absolute junk I cant even use. Oh yea...and the interest just kicked in... 15%
I couldnt afford to buy a new car if I wanted one.
Im going to search for Heads on Tues/Wed...whenever any of them are open.
Happy Freakin New Year

Found heads.
One cracked, one good
Went back to the boneyard yesterday, picked up another head...gonna drop it off tomorrow to see what can be done, or if its any good.
Started tearing into the engine tonight, didnt get too far. Just the electrical stuff removed, some hardware, coolant drained...etc.
Noticed sparkly coolant coming out of the tailpipe, so it's flushing out the muffler, and converter.

Motors back out.
Picking up a yard motor (Complete) tomorrow.
Gonna just put a yard motor in and call it good.
Going to settle up with the other very shortly.
Called the piston manufacturer, and the parts I have are the right parts, just not machined correctly......

Tomorrow i'm going to rip off the Heads on the other motor, and get it ready for inspection.
The saga continues.....
