A year ago, the price for a gallon of gas in Saginaw, Bay or Midland County averaged around $2.70. Today, the average price for a gallon of regular gas is $4.09.
Michigan's gas prices, which are right in line with the average price in the Great Lakes Bay Region, are still well above the national average of $3.76 per gallon, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
Some drivers are paying $3.99 per gallon in Saginaw County, according to GasBuddy.com, which allows drivers to enter their location and the price their paying for gas to help others find the best price in town. Drivers in Bay County and Midland County can still expect to see prices above $4 per gallon.
GasBuddy.com shows some Detroit-area drivers paying around $3.66 per gallon, with average prices expected to continue to fall.
The highest recorded average price for a gallon of gas of $4.28 was recorded on May 4 in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
