I use to work at Midland Nuclear Power Plant. I was a Security Supervisor when they closed the plant. Then I was transfered down to Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in South Haven. That Plant was on line. I have mixed feelings about using Nuclear Power. My first concern is you can't see or smell it. Our standing joke was "Don't step in any water". My other concern is personnel running the place. Everybody has a bad day!! Or makes mistakes. We as security force wear armed. And I can't begin to tell you all the training we had. It was run like the Military. There were job procedures and you followed them to the letter. If not you got spanked by the NRC. Everything was documented. Camera's all over the place. As the Shift Supervisor, I had access to every part of the plant. Really it's quite an impressive operation. The other problem is waste. Takes centuries for it to go away. But it was cheap and clean. They had all kinds of safety features. But sh*t happens.
